My friend Kaitlyn recently introduced to me the term "Oatmeal", as a mid-way resting place between "Crunchy" and...I don't know, mainstream? Oatmeal isn't quite as sweet and sugary as Lucky Charms...but it's not quite as crunchy and rough as granola. So there you have it.
You might be oatmeal if you...
-Use cloth diapers...when it's convenient for you, and give up altogether for weeks at a time
-Breastfeed, but sometimes hate it and can't wait to be done
-Buy organic and ethically sourced foods...when you can afford it, but also love Five Guys
-Got an epidural or had a c-section or whatever non-natural thing but still think making educated choices in birth is important and realize this is not the end-all-be-all
-Would like to use your car less and help the erff but you live in a place where it's freezing cold winter for half the year
-You are looking for ways to live sustainably...realistically and imperfectly
-Don't think you are an authority on anything and love to gather information and suggestions
-Want to make your own food ALL THE TIME...but ain't nobody got time for that
This blog is intended to be a creative outlet for me, and maybe if other people find it helpful...then great! It recently came to my attention (don't know why it took so long), that facebook is not the best outlet for these things. I do think it's important to share information. I think that's what the internet is for...but maybe 200 of your acquaintances don't want to see that or only want to use facebook for fun and social connection. So here is a place where it's all consolidated, you can visit if you like but you don't have to see it on the home page of your main social network. I still want to do some of the things and say some of the things that might come across as Preachy McJudgenheimer on facebook. I plan on sharing articles I find helpful about parenting and health, product reviews, creative essays, and if I really get it together...craft tutorials! If you would like to comment, then yay, but please be kind...I am new to this and I am a person. Thank you!
